Worcester Railers HC sign second year pro Nick Saracino

Saracino won a national championship in 2015 season with Providence College

WORCESTER, MA  –  The Worcester Railers Hockey Club (@RailersHC), proud ECHL (@ECHL) affiliate of the New York Islanders (@NYIslanders), and Railers HC General Manager and Head Coach Jamie Russell officially announced today that the club has signed forward Nick Saracino (@Saracino13) to an ECHL contract for the 2017-18 season.

Nick Saracino joins the Worcester Railers HC after spending the last season with the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL), where he played in 33 games, recorded two goals, four assists, and six penalty minutes.

Prior to playing for the Wild, the 5-foot-11, 185lb St. Louis, MO native spent four years with the Providence College Friars (Hockey East), where he played in 145 games and recorded 46 goals, 70 assists, 66 penalty minutes, and a +43 overall rating. Saracino served as alternate captain his senior year, and was a member of the 2015 NCAA national championship team. Two of Nick’s four seasons at Providence were spent skating under Jamie Russell, who served as assistant coach 2011-14.

Before joining the Friars, Saracino played two seasons with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders of the United State Hockey League (USHL). He played in 99 games for the RoughRiders and put up 20 goals, 53 assists, 32 penalty minutes, and a +18 rating.

“Nick is a talented forward capable of putting up big points,” said Russell. “He is coming off a significant injury and we are confident he will regain his confidence and offensive touch as a second year pro. He has outstanding hockey sense and is a responsible winger.”

The Railers now have 11 players under contract (six forwards, four defensemen, one goalie) and are expected to announce more signings in the upcoming weeks. You can view the full roster here.

The Worcester Railers Hockey Club, a proud member of the ECHL, will play their inaugural game at the DCU Center on Oct. 14, 2017 vs. the Manchester Monarchs. Full season memberships, mini plans, and group tickets are on sale now by calling the Railers front office at 508-365-1750 or by visiting www.RailersHC.com.
