Get ready for one of the most heartwarming nights of the season!
Teddy Bear Toss
Join the Worcester Railers Hockey Club for our annual Teddy Bear Toss Game, where fans are encouraged to bring new stuffed animals to throw onto the ice after the Railers’ first goal. All collected toys will be donated to the Friendly House.
The Teddy Bear Toss is one of hockey’s most beloved charitable traditions. It began in 1993 with the WHL’s Kamloops Blazers in British Columbia. During a holiday-themed game, fans were encouraged to bring stuffed animals and throw them onto the ice after the home team scored its first goal. The idea caught on instantly — thousands of teddy bears covered the ice, all donated to local children in need.
The tradition spread quickly across junior, minor, and professional hockey leagues throughout North America and eventually around the world. Teams now compete to set record-breaking numbers, with some collecting tens of thousands of stuffed animals in a single night. One of the most famous examples is the AHL’s Hershey Bears, who routinely gather massive totals that make national headlines.

Last year, we collected 1350 teddy bears, and are looking to expand on that number even more this year! Teddy Bears will be able to be donated at select Fidelity Bank Locations:
