Eamon McAdam turned aside 33 shots in 3-1 loss

Worcester, MA – The Worcester Railers HC (5-3-1-0, 11pts) two game winning streak came to an end after a 3-1 home loss to the visiting Reading Royals (5-2-0-0, 10pts) in front 3,502 fans at the DCU Center on Sunday afternoon. Eamon McAdam made 33 saves for Worcester while Matty Gaudreau scored the only Railers goal in the loss.  Mark Dekanich turned aside 25 shots while Nick Luukko scored the game winner midway through the third period.

The Royals controlled the first period of play which included nine minutes worth of power play time but it was an even strength goal by Matt Willows (3rd) at 11:49 that was deflected off a Worcester stick that ended up for the only score.  Eamon McAdam was spectacular in net as Worcester was outshot 14-5 in the opening frame that saw Mike Cornell (3rd FM) get ejected for dropping Ryan Penny with a series of uppercuts. Reading led 1-0 through 20 minutes.

Shots were 10-7 in the middle frame but the score would remain 1-0 headed into the second intermission.  Royals goaltender Mark Dekanich had 16 saves while Eamon McAdam had 20 for Worcester through 40 minutes of play.

Nick Luukko (1st) made it 2-0 Reading after he found a loose rebound at the side of the net and flipped it past McAdam at 4:39.  Matty Gaudreau got the Railers on the board at 13:46 after a Yanick Turcotte centering feed from behind the net went off Matty and into the net.  With McAdam pulled for the extra attacker, Mark Naclerio (3rd) found an empty net to seal the Royals 3-1 road victory.
