Dear Railers HC members, corporate partners, community members and fans;
Susan and I want to take a moment and thank you for your support this past season and extend well wishes to you and your family. It goes without saying that our thoughts are with everyone affected by the global outbreak of the COVID-19. We are sure that all of you share our disappointment with the way in which the season ended this year. The Railers had a difficult and oftentimes frustrating season on the ice, but our commitment to the community never wavered and in return we felt that our fans supported us, even though sometimes doing so wasn’t easy. This is indicative of our fans being the best in the ECHL, and the Railers being more than just a hockey team. Although we were not happy with our on-ice results this past season, we never gave up no matter how insurmountable the odds appeared to be. It is that determination in the face of tremendous obstacles, that unwavering grit and perseverance that we can bring to the off-ice struggle that our community currently faces. The present situation transcends hockey, but just as we come together 36 times a year at the DCU Center as a team, our hope is that we can come together to fight this virus as a community. Just as we have each other’s back on the ice during the game, we now must have each other’s back off the ice, during this epic struggle against uncertainty and fear.
I am 100% confident that the Railers will be back next season stronger from the adversity we endured this past year. I am also confident that our community of Worcester and Central MA will emerge from the struggles presented by this virus equally stronger than ever as a more cohesive group. Although our season ended abruptly, our commitment to the community stands intact. Our offices may be closed, and like many of you we may be working from home, but our spirit and our hearts are wide open. We stand ready to assist in any way we can.
We greatly appreciate your patience and support as we work through the ramifications of the season ending with seven home games un-played. We will continue to communicate updates as the situation evolves. Stay safe, be strong, and we hope to see you back at the DCU Center cheering on YOUR Worcester Railers in October 2020!
HOCKEY, HOCKEY, HOCKEY…WOOO
