Worcester Railers HC Sign Clarkson Forward Anthony Callin to ECHL Contract

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester Railers Hockey Club (@RailersHC), proud ECHL (@ECHL) affiliate of the New York Islanders (@NYIslanders), and General Manager and Head Coach Jordan Lavallee-Smotherman announced today that the club has signed Clarkson forward Anthony Callin to an ECHL contract.

Callin, 24, joins the Railers after finishing his graduate season at Clarkson University. The Middleton, WI native spent all five of his seasons playing collegiate hockey for the Golden Knights, where he was an ECAC Champion alongside current Railers defenseman Connor McCarthy. Callin acted as an assistant captain during his senior year, and team captain as a graduate student this past season. In 147 games played for Clarkson, Callin recorded 70 points (34-36-70) to go along with 67 penalty minutes and a +/- rating of +11.

The 6’0, 205 lb forward is the younger brother of current Springfield Thunderbird and former Railers assistant captain Drew Callin. Drew spent three seasons with the Railers, scoring 42 points (22-20-42) in his 76 career games played for Worcester.

“We are so excited for the second Callin chapter to begin here in Worcester,” Smotherman said. “Anthony brings so much to the table as a hockey player and a person. We are lucky he wanted to continue the family tradition and come finish out the season with us.”

Prior to playing collegiate hockey, Anthony Callin played three seasons for the Madison Capitols of the USHL, where he recorded 39 points (19-20-39) in 99 games played.

“I’m super excited,” Callin said. “It’s a great opportunity for me. Obviously my brother’s been here, so I know the ropes a little bit around here thanks to him. I’m excited to play and get out there.”

The Worcester Railers currently hold a playoff spot, with 13 games remaining this season. Memberships, mini-plans, and group tickets are on sale now by calling the Railers front office at 508-365-1750 or by visiting railershc.com.
