PORTLAND, ME — The Worcester Railers HC (1-2-0-0) lost to the Maine Mariners (1-1-0-0) on Saturday, October 24th, by a final score of 3-0 in front of a crowd of 5,243 at Cross Insurance Arena in Portland, ME. Maine successfully stymied Worcester on the power play Saturday afternoon, getting two shorthanded goals from Max Andreev (2-0-2) at the onset of the first and second periods. Andreev's goals bookended an effort from Robert Cronin (1-0-1), who was alone in front and beat Parker Gahagen in net for Worcester. The Mariners took a 3-0 lead into the third period. With fifteen seconds remaining on Jaxon Bellamy's tripping call for Maine, Josh Bloom took a turnover from Worcester and fed Max Andreev (1st) back door to beat Gahagen and make it 1-0 Maine. The Mariners doubled their lead 7:23 later when Robert Cronin (1st) received a feed alone in front from Antonio Venuto and ripped a shot clean past Gahagen to make it a 2-0 game. Worcester outshot Maine 7-6 in the first.

The Mariners surrendered another early penalty and converted on their second shorthanded goal of the game to open the second period. As Luke Cavallin committed a tripping call for Maine, Josh Bloom and Max Andreev (2nd) recreated their firt period tally to a tee and extended Maine's lead to 3-0. Neither team scored across the rest of the second period as Maine outshot Worcester 6-5 in the frame.

The Railers and Mariners exchanged power play time alike across the third frame fro Portland on Saturday, but both goaltenders Cavllin for Maine and Gahagen were firm in net to bring the game to a 3-0 close. Fifty-one penalty minutes were doled out in the third between the two teams. Shots in the third favored Maine 12-3.
