DiChiara won a Clark Cup in 2012-13 season with Dubuque Fighting Saints of USHL

WORCESTER, MA  –  The Worcester Railers Hockey Club (@RailersHC), proud ECHL (@ECHL) affiliate of the New York Islanders (@NYIslanders), and Railers HC General Manager and Head Coach Jamie Russell officially announced today that the club has signed forward Frankie DiChiara (@frank_dichiara) to an ECHL contract for the 2017-18 season.

Frankie DiChiaria joins the Worcester Railers HC after spending the last four years (2013-17) at Yale University, where he played in 128 games, recorded 30 goals, 42 assists, 71 penalty minutes, a +8 rating for the Bulldogs.

The 6-foot-two, 225lb Ronkonkoma, NY native had the best overall season of his career senior year, playing in 31 games, recording 10 goals, 11 assists, 28 penalty minutes, and was recipient of the John Poinier award, which is awarded to the best defensive player.

Prior to joining the Bulldogs, DiChiara was a member of the 2012-13 Dubuque Fighting Saints of the United State Hockey League (USHL). He played in 64 games for the Fighting Saints and put up 30 goals, 30 assists, 18 penalty minutes, and a +26 rating. He also spent a year with the St. Louis Bandits of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) playing in 59 games for the Bandits, and recorded 23 goals, 28 assists, 28 penalty minutes, and a +20 rating.

“Frank plays a solid 200-foot game, as evidenced by his defensive player of the year award at Yale,” said Russell. “He has size, shoots it very well and can play the point on the power play. He is a proven winner, as he won a championship in the USHL and in the NCAA ranks. Frankie will be an impact rookie in the ECHL.”

The Railers are expected to announce more player signings upon approval from the ECHL in the upcoming weeks.

The Worcester Railers Hockey Club, a proud member of the ECHL, will play their inaugural game at the DCU Center on Oct. 14, 2017 vs. the Manchester Monarchs. Full season memberships start at just $432 for 36 regular season games at the DCU Center and can be purchased by calling the Railers front office at 508-365-1750 or by visiting www.RailersHC.com.
