The Worcester Railers HC announce 2018-19 opening night roster

Veteran defenseman Mike Cornell named team captain

WORCESTER, MAThe Worcester Railers Hockey Club(@RailersHC), proud ECHL(@ECHL) affiliate of the New York Islanders(@NYIslanders), and Railers HC General Manager and Head Coach Jamie Russell(@JamieRussell18) officially announced today the 2018-19 Worcester Railers HC opening night roster.

The 2018-19 Worcester Railers HC roster includes 23 players with 13 forwards, eight defensemen, and two goalies. The Worcester Railers HC will kick off the 2018-19 season on Saturday, October 13th in Reading, PA vs. the Reading Royals. Puck drop is at 7:05pm.

Forwards (13) Tyler Barnes, Nick Sorkin, Austin Block, Dylan Willick, Josh Holmstrom, Connor Graham, Bryan Arneson, Barry Almeida, Nick Bligh, Woody Hudson, Tommy Kelley, Tommy Tsicos, and Trent Durocher.

Defensemen (8) Tommy Panico, Alex Vanier, Ryan MacKinnon, Kyle McKenzie, Mike Cornell, David Quenneville, Tyler Mueller, and Connor Doherty.

Goaltenders (2) Evan Buitenhuis and Mitch Gillam

Mike Cornell has been named captain. Barry Almeida and Josh Holmstrom have been named alternate captains. Find a more detailed roster here.

What’s on tap?– Railers 2.0 begins with two games in Reading, PA vs. the Royals

On Saturday, Oct 13, the Railers begin their 72 games regular season schedule with a 7pm start in Reading, PA vs. the Reading Royals.  The Railers battle the Royals again on Sunday, Oct 14 at 5pm.

On Saturday, Oct 20 the Worcester Railers HC host the Maine Mariners at 7:05pm on RAILERS 2.0 OPENING NIGHT!  The first 7,500 fans will receive a Railers magnet schedule courtesy of the Worcester Telegram and Gazette.  One of the most popular entertainment acts in all of professional sports will perform…..the QUICK CHANGE magic act featuring David and Dania as seen on America’s Got Talent!  Doors will open early at 5:30pm at the DCU Center and fans are encouraged to be seated by 6:50pm for the opening night pregame show.  Tickets start as low as $15!

The Railers Tavern, located behind the DCU Center provides hockey fans with a great pregame and postgame atmosphere all season long.
