Jamie Russell

General Manager/ Head Coach

Russell, 52, enters his third season as General Manager/Head Coach of the Worcester Railers HC. Through two seasons with the Railers Russell has compiled an overall record of (69-56-15-4). In both seasons Russell has led the Railers to winning records and brought Worcester to the playoffs in their inaugural season back in 2017-18.

Prior to joining Worcester, Russell spent two seasons (2014-16) with the Elmira Jackals (ECHL) as their head coach and director of hockey operations and compiled a record of 69-66-12.  Prior to his time in Elmira, Russell spent three seasons from 2011-14 at Providence College (Hockey East) as an assistant coach and helped guide the Friars to their first NCAA tournament in 13 seasons in 2014.

The native of Kamloops, BC spent eight seasons at Michigan Tech (WCHA) as a head coach from 2003-11 and was named the 2007 WCHA Coach of the Year. Russell has also served as an assistant coach at Cornell University (1999-2003) and Ferris State University (1994-99).

Jamie played collegiate hockey at Michigan Tech from 1987-89 before turning pro and playing two seasons in Winston Salem (ECHL) in 1989-91.  Russell also played defense for the Binghamton Whalers during the 1989-90 season. Jamie has a Master of Business Administration from Lake Superior State University and a Bachelor’s degree from Michigan Technology University.

Russell and his wife, Linda, have three sons Ben, Charlie, and Graeme.
