Worcester Railers HC Fans!

Eric Lindquist checking back in!  It is starting to feel more like winter here in Worcester!  I had a blast at the Worcester Festival of Lights on December 2 at the Worcester Common.  If you have not been to that event….make sure to circle your calendar next year…it is a great take (and free event) right in the center of Worcester…. Now, let’s get you all caught up on all things Worcester Railers:

Members Update

As of 10am on December 18, we currently have 1038 members on board for our inaugural season – which means the Founder’s Circle is all wrapped up!  However, the Railers Foundation has teamed up with the Worcester Telegram & Gazette Santa Fund for a Holiday Power Play!  For every new membership deposit between now and Jan 15, the Railers Foundation will donate $200 to the Santa Fund…. the goal is 500 new memberships for a $100,000 donation!  For more information on the Holiday Power Play please click HERE.  As of right now the Railers Foundation will donate $17,400 to the Santa Fund ($10,000 initial donation + the Holiday Power Play)

Ugly Sweater Party

In case you missed…. Boston Bruins anthem singer Rene Rancourt will attend the members only holiday party as Mezcal on December 12.  Rene will sing both anthems at Mezcal before the Bruins play the Canadiens on TV that night!  Make sure to wear your ugly sweater for a chance to win club level Bruins tickets!  More info on the holiday party click HERE!  Also at the party, Director of Memberships Mike Fisher will let everyone know about the select-a-seat process….. don’t forget that Sharks season ticket holders will have the opportunity to save their old seat locations!  We have had over 200 RSVP’s for the event…looking forward to eating guacamole and chatting hockey with our members!

Worcester Hockey Alum

Curt Gogol signed on with the Florida Everblades (ECHL) on December 5 after skating in his hometown in Calgary looking for a new gig…. Yanni Gourde has 18 points in 21 games with the Syracuse Crunch this season…. Sebastian Stalberg has 10 points in 24 games playing in his native country Sweden for the Frolunda HC… Mike Banwell is playing in the ECHL for the Utah Grizzlies and has five points in 22 games…. and a BIG congratulations to former Worcester Sharks equipment manager Chris Davidson-Adams (AKA Critter) for being named the first equipment manager for the expansion Vegas Golden Knights!

Around the ECHL

There was a pretty decent goalie fight in Colorado on Dec 7 between the Eagles and the Steelheads (haven’t found video that I can share)… the Manchester Monarchs continue their hot start in the North Division with a 14-7-1-1 record through 23 games…. Former Sharks Peter Sivak leads the ECHL with 15 goals for the Alaska Aces…. there have been only 10 penalty shots this season in the ECHL – and only four have been goals…. the Allen Americans lead the ECHL with 28 major penalties while the Orlando Solar Bears have only three…. the Indy Fuel are 7-0-0-1 when scoring the first goal of the games…. The Norfolk Admirals are just 3-for-60 on the power play this season – OUCH!…. and former Shark Chris Crane had a four game goal scoring streak with Orlando heading into the weekend.

Wrapping things Up

Railers HC owner Cliff Rucker was recognized in the Worcester Business Journal as a “GEAR SHIFTER” – click HERE to have a read…. Railers membership exec Tym Dore snapped my streak of three straight weeks of going undefeated in corn hole in the office… I think I might head north to Glens Falls to the ECHL All-Star Game – anyone going?…… All-right – see you guys on Monday at Mezcal… that will do it….  If you have a question…. shoot me a line at EricL@RailersHC.com.  Until next time…. HOCKEY, HOCKEY, HOCKEY…WOO!
