Hey guys, Cam McGuire (PR & Social Media Coordinator) checking back in as we are another Friday closer to Opening Night! We are exactly 77 days away from Opening Night, October 12th vs. the Adirondack Thunder. Yesterday it was announced that hockey will come a little sooner however as the Railers will take on the Maine Mariners in a pre-season game in Exeter, NH on October 5th at The Rinks at Exeter in Exeter, NH. More details to come as we get closer.

Maine Mariners

Last Season: The Mariners and the Railers met 14 times last season as Worcester went (4-4-3-3) vs. the first-year club. Maine finished 6th in the North Division with 77 pts (37-32-2-1) while the Railers finished 7th with 75 pts (32-29-7-4). In the 14-game series, six of the games took more than 60 minutes to decide a winner. The Mariners have the most players signed for the upcoming season with 14. See below for a list of players under contract with Maine.

(F) Alex Kile. The 6-0, 194lb of Troy, MI enters his third professional season after playing with Maine for part of last year, (22GP, 13-7-20). The 25-year-old also played in 39 AHL games last season. Utica (4GP, 0-0-0), Hartford (2GP, 1-0-1), and Laval (33GP, 5-2-7).

(D) Marc-Olivier Crevier-Morin. The 6-2, 200lb native of Chateauguay, QC enters his third professional season. The 23-year-old played the last two seasons with the Wichita Thunder (124GP, 3-25-28).

(D) Gabriel Sylvestre. The 6-4, 194lb native of Laval, QC enters his first professional season after spending the last five years in the QMJHL. Sylvestre is just 21-years-old and does not turn 22 until Jan 22nd2020.

(F) Taylor Cammarata. The 5-7, 161lb native of Plymouth, MN is an offensive threat. In 2012-13 with the Waterloo Blackhawks of the USHL he was the Player of the Year leading the league in goals (38) and points (93). The 24-year-old played four years at the University of Minnesota from 2013-17 (149GP, 25-68-93). Cammarata has played for four ECHL teams over the last two years and finished last season with the Mariners (21GP, 10-12-22). He was drafted by the New York Islanders in 2013 (3rdround, 76thoverall).

(D) Garrett Cecere. The 5-9, 170lb native of West Des Moines, IA enters his second year with the Mariners after (49GP, 1-6-7) last season. The 24-year-old played four years of college hockey, Colorado College (2014-16) and Northeastern (2016-18).

(F) Ryan Ferrill. The 6-3, 217lb native of Havertown, PA played in all but four games in the Mariners inaugural season (68GP, 5-15-20). The 26-year-old played his college hockey nearby at Holy Cross from 2014-18 (138GP, 28-33-61).

(D) Rich Boyd. The 6-3, 209lb native of Fort Myers, FL made his Mariners debut on March 30thvs. Adirondack last season after finishing his senior year at the University of New Hampshire. Boyd played for the Wildcats from 2014-19 (124GP, 6-15-21).

(F) Nick Master. The 5-11, 190lb native of Broomall, PA debuted with the Mariners on March 24th. Master made his short time with Maine felt (8GP, 3-4-7). The 24-year-old played for the Umass Lowell Riverhawks from 2015-19 (150GP, 21-47-68).

(F) Dwyer Tschantz. The 6-6, 225lb native of Wilmington, DE played four games for the Railers during the 2017-18 season scoring one goal. The 24-year-old spent last season with Maine (50GP, 9-6-17). Tschantz played at Cornell University from 2014-18 where he was teammates with Mitch Gillam and Jeff Kubiak.

(D) Derek Pratt. The 6-2, 190lb native of Mount Hermon, MA played spent last season with the Mariners (63GP, 2-16-18). The 25-year-old was signed to a PTO with the Utica Comets (AHL) on April 8thalong with Railers defenseman Connor Doherty.

(F) Terrence Wallin. The 6-0, 200lb native of Yardley, PA enters his fifth pro season, his second with the Mariners. Wallin wore the “A” last year for Maine (41GP, 11-19-30). The 27-year-old also played 23 games with Hartford (AHL) last year producing one assist. Wallin is just 26 ECHL games of 200 regular season ECHL games. In 2009-10 Wallin was teammates with Railers assistant coach Derek Army at the Gunnery School in Washington, CT.

(F) Michael McNicholas. The 5-10, 175lb native of Reno, NV spent last season with the Mariners (65GP, 13-40-53) after starting the season playing overseas. The 25-year-old played his college hockey at the University of New Hampshire from 2014-18 (117GP, 22-58-80).

(F) Dillan Fox. The 5-11, 187lb native of Hummelstown, PA played with the Mariners last year (37GP, 16-10-26). The 28-year-old started the season with the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs (SPHL).

(D) Josh Couturier. The 6-2, 195lb native of Newbury, MA played with the Mariners last season (19GP, 2-8-10) as well as the Wheeling Nailers (32GP, 1-1-2). The 24-year-old played one year at Boston College 2015-16 and two years at UMass Amherst 2016-18. Couturier was teammates with Railers defenseman Connor Doherty in 2012-13 with the Boston Jr. Bruins (EJHL).

Railers at Mass Pirates

The Mass Pirates play their final regular season game tonight at the DCU Center vs. the New York City Streets at 7pm. The Railers will have a tent set up in the concourse so come swing by!

Hockey Night at the Bravehearts

This past Tuesday the Worcester Bravehearts had their #HockeyNight with special guest Jack Edwards. Be on the lookout on Tuesday July 29 for Cam’s Corner which will feature Edwards as well as Connor Haynes and Paul Harris who threw out the first pitch.
