What’s up Railers fans!? Only 24 days until Railers Hockey returns to the DCU Center on October 20th! Who’s excited!? Welcome back to another Community Express Community Recap! We’ve been staying busy here…things are only going to pick up as we get closer to October! If you see us out and about, be sure to take a photo and tag @Trax_RailersHC on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook! We’ll share our favorites. Special thanks to our summer series Presenting Sponsor People’s United Bank as well as our Participating Sponsors Feeley Dental & Associates, Polar Beverages, CBS, Reliant Medical Group,  & Erika Sullivan Realty Group.

Here’s our weekly event recap:

Friday, September 21

Connor, Trax, and I appeared at Douglas Elementary School last Friday. We brought the Railers Shootout to their Ice Cream Social and it was a huge hit! Connor and I got to play soccer with the students as well.

Saturday, September 22

Our Railers Front Office all participated in the second annual Dragon Boat Festival at Lake Quinsigamond last Saturday. We came in second in both of our heats but that wasn’t enough to advance us to the next round as there were over 40 teams participating all padding to get the fastest heat time. We came in 9th in the community division. Better luck next year! We also donated one of our race boats to You Inc… they also did a fantastic job. For more info – check out the latest TWT video here.

Sunday, September 23

We had two huge events on tap for Sunday… the first being the Worcester Alzheimer’s Walk at QCC! Andrew Nawn and our interns brought Trax out to QCC for an appearance while I set up our Railers Shootout, Prize Wheel, and Table at Wachusett Mountain for Kids Fest. Trax made his rounds at both events, bringing smiles to hundreds of children! We stayed at Kids Fest all day and promoted opening night… only a few weeks away!!

Monday, September 24

Chopped! Worcester 2018 took place at WPI on Monday and Trax got the invite! He greeted the families that came in at the front door then fooled around with all the judges/chefs!

Tuesday, September 25

Skate to Success – Yet another amazing Skate to Success program took place at the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center yesterday! We welcomed over 115 fourth graders from Canterbury St and Flagg St Elem, the largest program of the year! The majority of these kids have never been inside a hockey rink before let alone ice skate! This is what it’s all about – providing opportunity to those who would normally never have the chance! I can still see the smiles on the faces of the kids…they all had the time of their lives and didn’t want to get off the ice! We have a week off this week due to training camp but we’ll see Chandler Elem on the 9th!

Don’t miss out! Here is where we’ll be this upcoming week!

Thursday 9/27 – United Way Rally at St Gobain – 11:30AM

Saturday 9/29 – Teddy Bear Clinic at Umass Memorial – 11AM-12PM
