Community Express 9/19

September 19, 2018

by Paul Harris

What’s up Railers fans!? Only 31 days until Railers Hockey returns to the DCU Center on October 20th! Who’s excited!? Welcome back to another Community Express Community Recap! We’ve been staying busy here…things are only going to pick up as we get closer to October! If you see us out and about, be sure to take a photo and tag @Trax_RailersHC on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook! We’ll share our favorites. Special thanks to our summer series Presenting Sponsor People’s United Bank as well as our Participating Sponsors Feeley Dental & Associates, Polar Beverages, CBS, Reliant Medical Group,  & Erika Sullivan Realty Group.

Here’s our weekly event recap:

Friday, September 14

Mayo Elementary School – We brought the Railers Shootout to Mayo’s Ice Cream Social last week! The kids had a blast! Trax came with us as well and played games with the students.

Saturday, September 15

Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention Walk – Trax and members of the Railers HC Front Office appeared at Institute Park last Saturday for a suicide awareness walk. Trax took photos with all the participants and passed out giveaways.

Kidz Expo – We set up the Railers Shootout and Prize Wheel at the Marlborough Kidz Expo for the majority of the day. Many families attended because they heard Trax and Nickelodeon Star Kira Kosarin were making an appearance!

Applefest – Next stop was Applefest in Northborough! We met up with Jake the Lion at Church of the Nativity and interacted with a bunch of families!

Treasure Valley – Trax and I drove the Railers Raptor to Treasure Valley last Saturday to visit all the scouts at the reservation! We spent most of our time at the lake since it was so nice out.

Mayo Elementary Family Block Party – We wrapped up the day in Holden outside Mayo Elementary School for a family block party! There were dunk tanks, inflatables, fire trucks and more!

Sunday, September 16

stART on the Street – Central MA’s largest music and arts festival took place this weekend and Trax got the invite! We said hi to over 100 vendors and 1000+ people!

City View 5k – Trax got to cheer on hundreds of people who ran in the second annual City View 5k benefiting Special Olympics.

Monday, September 17

Water St Block Party – Welcome Worcester Red Sox! We brought out our Railers Shootout and Prize Wheel to help celebrate the new baseball team coming to Worcester! The block party had thousands of people in attendance! Trax got to take a picture with the Pawsox mascots as well!

Tuesday, September 18

Skate to Success – Yet another amazing Skate to Success program took place at the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center yesterday! We welcomed over 110 fourth graders from West Tatnuck and Chandler Magnet School. The majority of these kids have never been inside a hockey rink before let alone ice skate! This is what it’s all about – providing opportunity to those who would normally never have the chance! I can still see the smiles on the faces of the kids…they all had the time of their lives and didn’t want to get off the ice! We’ll see Flagg St and Canterbury St next week!

St Leo’s School – There was a back to school party at St Leo’s School in Leominster last night and Trax had a blast!!

Don’t miss out! Here is where we’ll be this upcoming week!

Saturday 9/22 – Dragonboat Festival (Our whole office will be participating!)

Sunday 9/23 – Wachusett Mtn Kids Fest (Inflatable and Prize Wheel 10-4)

Sunday 9/23 – Alzheimer’s Walk Time TBD
